Time For A Quick Party Post before Gardening

I stopped by Ann's for GNO before I head out to the garden store. This is my Party Game 80's Paragraph:

After a long week working as an assistant trainer at the Jane Fonda Exercise Studio I was ready for a night out. I went to my closet, put on my Polyester Suit and headed out the door. I stopped to pick-up my friends KC & the Sunshine Band and we headed to Studio 54. This place was packed! I had just about sweated my glitter off when they turned on the lights and told us it was time to boogie home. Another great night. Can you dig it? :->

Ann's Garden Video Post has given me extra inspiration to get all dirty today! Not only did I attend her 80's Virtual Party but with the sunny weather & rising temps, looks like it's gonna be an "80's Weekend!"

Can you dig it?

Spring Fever / Flower Power

We have these wildflowers growing in our backyard; mostly where they are in danger of being mowed down by my husband! I have been transplanting them in a wooded area that I am trying to create a shade garden. I visited several resource sites on the web to identify them and came up with the most likely identity of Spring Beauty. This is a great time of year to transplant perennials and save money. Next week I am planning to go to a Perennial Potluck where I will trade plants with other gardeners; should be fun! ( more photos on my photo blog click here)

Description

This section of the book is from the "Wild Flowers Worth Knowing" book, by Neltje Blanchan. Also available from Amazon: Wild Flowers Worth Knowing

PURSLANE FAMILY - Portulacaceae: Spring Beauty; Claytonia

Calyx of 2 ovate sepals; corolla of 5 petals slightly united by their bases; 5 stamens, 1 inserted on base of each petal; the style 3-cleft. Stem: Weak, 6 to 12 in. long, from a deep, tuberous root. Leaves: Opposite above, linear to lance-shaped, shorter than basal ones, which are 3 to 7 in., long; breadth variable.

I also had to buy a few plants such as Daisies, Columbine, Tulips & Dianthus to plant early. I can't wait until the danger of frost is over so I can start my vegetable garden & plant some more flowers!!!!

I - Overload

Scene from Office Space

Last week I hit a wall, I decided to take a break from blogging & reading blogs. Same story with FaceBook and Twitter. I posted a photo of my "Barbie-Self" on the beach that proclaimed I was on "Spring Break". Truth of the matter was I decided to take a (partial) Amish vacation of sorts.

Internet Overload

I had posted a short time ago ( All A-Twitter ) about reaching Media Over -load after joining Twitter and having 9 places to post things. Well it finally happened.... I virtually imploded and decided to take a brief break to de-stress and re-prioritize my time.

When I hit the "Wall", I thought back to the day last year when we were snowed in and I did a hour-by- hour photo diary of our family's survival skills. I spent so much time taking pictures and documenting the day, I didn't have time to relax. The day I wrote about, felt staged and surreal. Like an actor on a stage....

Too Much Talk & Not Enough Listen

As I maxed out my virtual capacity these past few weeks, I was so busy trying to keep up with blog friends and posting, I ran out of interesting anecdotes and the desire to blog. Twitter was filled with too many Tweets to keep up and not much interaction going on. I wondered if we are all so busy telling everyone about our every move, that we forget to pay attention to others.....

NSF Twitter Term

I did hear a funny Twitter term that an acquaintance relayed to me. Her friend was telling her that she was just "Tweeting" and created a new past-tense of the word.
"I was just Twatting."
On that note, I am back from my brief break and will be making the rounds to catch up with everyone. We are expecting some nice weather this weekend and I plan to get some gardening time in.

The only "Tweets" I plan to listen to for the next few days are from the birdies in my back yard!
